Can't take a credit for this bloom- I bought this plant in sheath at a flea market 2 weeks ago. Buds developed maybe too quickly- they were just shadows on the bottom of the sheath then. This bud started to open while it was just pushing out of the sheath, so I opened it. I don't know if this plant has a blooming issue (previous bloom stems on it indicate not, but that could be why someone didn't want it) or if it's a reaction to the change in conditions and repotting, but this first bud was in a hurry, the second is less than half developed and the third a nubbin yet. The stem is very short, and snapped under the bud's weight today, the first day of being almost fully opened. Oh well!
However, I really like the bloom- it was already sweetly fragrant while the bud was cracking, it's a good size (between 5" -6") and I quite like the color. Sort of a watermelon with diamond dust, the lip more of a red/magenta than the photo shows, and with Chia Lin 'New City's eyes and veining.
Let's see if/how the other buds develop, and when it blooms next! It is a decent looking plant with good roots.

(off topic I HATE PHOTOBUCKET! Why should loading photos on their site and working with them be so difficult? Didn't used to be!)
