I follow the Chadwick advice on growing C. dowiana. I have it near the peak of the greenhouse (warmest) and its in a slat basket filled with coarse LECA. On warm bright days during active growth (now, for example) it gets watered once late in the morning and another two or three mistings of the surface roots during the peak of the afternoon.
Mine is currently in sheath on one growth and has started a second growth on a second lead. Chadwick's suggestions are spot on. Do NOT try to grow it with Sphagnum around the roots, or any medium that holds on to a lot of water.
