Cattleya Newbery Luisa's Love 'Purple Rain'
A wonderful hybrid that came out of Carter and Holmes, made by the famous hybridizer Gene Crocker. With a big dose of pumila and walkeriana, it took the best of these species to create a vibrantly coloured, velvety fragrant round flowers on small plants. A respectable size of NS 7 cm. I have seen one in our judging centre with cardboard like substance. Everyone should own one!
I call my first bloom seedling 'Purple Rain' to pay homage to a wonderfully talented artist who recently passed away. His music and kindness will be missed. RIP 😔
