Deflasking Sophronits (Cattleya) coccinea
Hello all...
Curious if any of you have any knowledge to pass on regarding deflasking Soph. coccinea... I have a couple flasks arriving next month and am looking for any advice you all might have. I've not grown on any catts from flask, just Pleione, Cymbidiums & Dendrobium...I'm conjecturing the basic principle will work for these as well? I'm planning on using a 2-3" layer of NZ sphagnum in plastic over a 1/2" of pumice. They'll initially go into a case with my other seedling compots; 15hr light, 75F day 60F night, 75% rh avg; circulating fans on 24/7. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Adam

Good luck. Now that's one I would like to try. I would be getting, if you don't have it, Ray's inocucor. I think it is suppose to help with seedlings.

I've successfully deflasked cernua into a mix of sphag and small seedling bark - all in compots. Uncovered, temps around 70f constantly and r/h at 50% plus. I've never had lights on more than 12 hrs. I don't know if this will help as I have always thought that coccinea are cooller growers than cernua but OrchidWiz says otherwise. Fans probably a good idea as they like to dry out quickly.
