C. Milton Warne 'Premier'
C. Milton Warne (C. Hybrida (1859) x C. Sauvior) This one isn't seen around too much. At least I haven't seen it. The cross was made in 1965, so its an oldy. I got it a year ago Feb. as a division. It bloomed around this time last year and is right on schedule again. The petals are white with the pink flare when first opened but turn pale pink within a day or so. The mild scent is just starting too a few days after opening.
It is 1/4 C. guttata which is likely where it gets it's taller growth. It is close to 2 ft. tall. The blooms lasted quite a few weeks last year so I am hoping for the same this year.

That's a really nice one. It's a shame some of these great old hybrids disappear. I think it's as pretty as some of the newer ones I see, and nicer than some.
(and yes, I wholeheartedly agree that a hybrid's disappearance is nowhere near the tragedy of a species', but most of us have neither the years nor the ability to recreate the majority of hybrids- so when they're gone, they're gone. The only hope for finding one is forgotten in some old collection.)

Thanks for looking I like finding some of these less common and usually old crosses. I think Fred Clarke uses this one to breed for some of his splash hybrids. But I don't usually see this one itself around.

Very nice!
It is sad that many of the really nice older hybrids have vanished or are difficult to find.
