What is Epidendrum atronecium? Male
Default What is Epidendrum atronecium?

I just brought home some plants from our society show. (More later.) One was sold by one of our best growers from her collections, Epidendrum atronecium x Encyclia cordigera (dark.) It still has the Kalapana Tropicals tag with repotting noted 2006, 2007, 2010, division 1/16.

I have learned this is Encyclia Nursery Rhyme, which means both parents are/were considered Encyclia recently, but I can't find Epidendrum atronecium. Does anybody have any information?

Thanks.

As per OrchidWiz:

What is Epidendrum atronecium?-atroniceum-jpg

Hope that helps. So your plant is 75% E. cordigera and 25% E. phoenicea

Thank you! Most of the entries I found on the Internet and on the label don't have it capitalized, so I was thinking it was a species in some other genus somewhere.
