Default Brassavola grandiflora in bloom

I got this a few years ago tagged as nodosa - when it bloomed I posted pix here, and a few of the members thought it was grandiflora, and after explaining to me the differences in the species, I would have to agree.

Only one spike, two flowers this time; there are two other growths with sheaths, but as of yet at least haven't done anything. BIG flowers for the size of the plant. I couldn't get an accurate measurement, as the petals inbetween the flowers are pushed forward by the flower next to each. The petals individually are 3".

Nocturnal fragrance, which is spicy, and far from subtle, perfuming the room and beyond (so long as the lights in the room are off)

These photos were taken at the end of February, after the flowers had been open a week or two already, and they are still going, tho very much less fragrant.

Thanks for looking

I really love the brassovolas, though I am a bit scared of not being able to provide enough sun! These are so beautiful, how is the scent? Love!

This has done well in windowsills; spring-autumn in a west or east facing window, winter in a south facing window. I don't know if it needs the south facing window in winter, but as things come inside, and get moved around for winter, that's where there is space

The scent is wonderful! Spicy. A couple of days after both flowers had opened, twice I came inside (after nightfall) and smelled something really nice - the first time, wondering what it could be, I looked around where I was (kitchen) and realized I had no blooming orchids in that area - the second time, I came in from the back into my bedroom (the plant being in another bedroom), at first puzzled, but then remembered there was a Brassavola blooming down the hall

Thanks
I can smell mine down the (short) hall! In the past, I would put it in my bedroom when it was in bloom, but didn't have space for it this time.
