Ok, that schilleriana is really a spectacular specimen... where did you get it?! I was looking for one last year and couldn't find many offering it... at BS size anyway...
Unfortunately, it's reportedly cooler growing than aclandaie for instance, so not sure if it can handle 100 degree weather, which is why I've hesitated...

I think you and I think alike. It is a zero sum game unless you have a huge greenhouse setup. I do end up buying big plants though. Sometimes by accident. I look at a plant and think about how healthy it looks before I decide if I like the flower. I won't buy an orchid that is not have crazyroots or is not climbing out of a pot. I'm too old to take up babying plants from seedlings.
That shilleriana sat there on e-bay for a while. I loved the stumpy little pseudobulbs and the dark purple and red of the leaves. I do know about the cooler weather thing with Shilleriana. I realized that I would have to get a few T-5's and a fan in the hottest part of the summer.
I just got a Rchra. Honky Tonk Woman. A huge plant! Crazy!
