Epidendrum ellipticum - new color Male
Default Epidendrum ellipticum - new color

I first encountered Epi ellipticum, a compact and very vigorous reed stem, about 3 years ago. With pale pink flowers, it is easily recognizable. My largest plant went off to the SEPOS show today, so if you go to that show, look for it in the NJOS exhibit.

At the NJOS show in January, Andy's Orchids came east. Amongst his offerings was a yellow form of ellipticum, which I of course could not resist. The first flower on the yellow form opened today, so I got a photo of it next to the standard color form.

Cool comparison! Be sure to post pics when the blooms are fully open.
