So very nice-lovely Easter colors!

Thanks all!

Silken, the purple spotting is a good sign it reviewed enough light. Does it grow with a sheath on those purple growths?

Here are the flowers today. The pink deepened to a soft baby pink!

No sheaths on the most recent 3 or 4 growths. It bloomed in late summer 2012 and in May 2014 and not since. It has quite a few growths and gets a fair bit of light. Also good roots. Also tested negative for CMV and ORSV viruses. When it bloomed its gorgeous and the plant looks pretty good too.

Well grown!

Off topic for a sec, is that a phrag bessae hybrid in back right corner?

Leslie 03-04-2016 08:41 PM

Thanks 1flower1world!

Silken, no sheaths usually occur on the second growths that comes up after flowering (these are the second growths of the year). It's the winter growth (Dec-Feb) that should have the sheaths. If no sheaths on these growths I suspect that light isn't enough. Do you grow under lights or window? I would increase amount of light Dec-Feb, more than what you have given.

U Bada, that plant on back right is a Phalaenopsis cornu cervi var flava ;) ... Disguised as a phrag!

I have a number of recently mature new growths that I htink grew over summer and finished off over winter. They are all spotted but no sheaths. It sits directly under 2 4 ft. HO T5 lamps in winter for about 12 hours/ day and under 50% shade cloth in same greenhouse in summer. Quite a bit of light I think. I need to check but I think there are some very small new growths just starting from those growths that matured over winter. The first time it bloomed it was hanging outside from a cherry tree most of the summer, likely getting less light than it does now! Then it bloomed in Aug. It's supposed to be a fairly easy to grow and bloom Catt. species!
