I just bought this catt in bud not too long ago and it is blooming now. It's just gorgeous, I can't stop looking at this flower. The colors are so amazing, there are many shades of yellow and such vibrant pinky purples. However, the fragrance that this orchid is releasing at the moment is dreadful, just awful! I can't stand to catch a wiff when I want to admire the flower lol it smells like moth balls and something else that I can't pinpoint. It actually makes me nauseous Does anyone have this orchid? Can you let me know if the smell is bad or starts off as bad and becomes pleasant? I know that orchid fragrances evolve over the life of a flower and I am so hoping that this one does too.

One of the most beauteous catts I've ever seen! Forget the fragrance...enjoy the view!

I do own that clone. It's a really nice cattleya in my opinion. I looked at my notes from when it last bloomed and I see I wrote "fragrant". If I didn't like the fragrance I'm sure I would have noted that. But fragrance is very subjective. Just because I like a scent doesn't mean someone else will.

I also have it, but it hasn't bloomed for me yet. It is in sheath and I can see the outline of buds in the sheath. I will let you know about fragrance.

Thank you Silken, and DeaC I need to pin my nose bc there is no way I am not going to stop gawking at this most beautiful flower lol tucker85 I agree with fragrance being subjective, for example, oncidium twinkles are said to have a vanilla/chocolate scent and I smell a sweet lemon scent instead? No matter what the smell on this orchid, it's one of the most beautiful ones I have seen and I am just so happy that I actually have one ❤️ gngrhill pls let me know what your blooms end up smelling like I am very interested about how people interpret this fragrance.

Truly gorgeous! I'm glad you're able to enjoy it even if you aren't fond of the smell.

What a beauty. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it gets better smelling. I have found this to be true on a couple of mine.

Thank you Fiacre and No-Pro-mwa, I haven't put my nose to the flower recently and today is cloudy so it's not fragrant at the moment, yay! I will see what it smells like tomorrow, I could have sworn I smelled the one in bloom at Fantasy Orchids and thought it smelled great?
