It looks a lot like my Ctt. Doris and Byron 'Christmas Rose' which is also blooming right now with similar size of plant and blooms. Just in case you want to try and replace it with a new healthy one.

That is so sweet of you to offer! That is something I could be interested in. Does yours have a similar fragrance as well?

I would be gutted just to compost this one... is that what most everyone would recommend?

Sorry, I am in Canada and can't ship to the U.S. or I would be happy to send you a piece of mine. I was mostly saying what the name might be so you could search for one. And it does have a lovely scent.

I wouldn't compost it as then the virus could spread to other things in your garden. If you can't keep it separate from other plants and plan to toss it, it should go in a garbage bag, into the trash, pot and all unless you plan to really sterilize the pot. Even then it doesn't always kill virus.

Understood. I only have windowsill space here in San Francisco. I'm leaning towards enjoying the blooms and then maybe putting her to rest just because of the close quarters of my plants.. There is general compost outside for my apartment building, and I could wrap her in a compost bag I suppose. Or still toss it?

Hopefully the blooms will last long so you can enjoy it. If you put it in general compost won't it go into someone's garden eventually? I would put it in trash to prevent it from getting into a garden area as compost since that won't kill the virus and just cause it to spread to some other plant.

Last time the blooms lasted almost 2 months from what I recall. Such a shame about the virus..

Sure sounds like the same plant. These on mine last about 7 or 8 weeks too which is unusual for Cattleyas. I did see that orchids.com (Norman's Orchids) has it for $20.00. Being from Canada I have never bought from them.

Goodness what a beauty and what a show. So sorry about that it may have a virus. That's just sad.

The goodness the Pacific Orchid Expo is right around the corner!

(I squealed a little saying that.)
