I don't like to cut leaves on my plants unless it's some sort of fast moving rot. I feel sometimes it is more stress on an already stressed plant. Most times the area will dry and be no problem. Later when the plant is better I may cut the dry part off. Just the way I do it. When I do cut I usually put cinnamon powder on area.
