Perfect for the collector who is "out of room". Of course I've added several large orchids since I officially declared that I was out of space lol

A member of a succulent society I belonged to had to leave new plants acquired at meetings in her car until her husband was asleep or away from home, and sneak them into the house. She initially tried sending him to the grocery store for something but he saw them in her car, so she learned how to hide them in her car.
Once they were snuck into the house she was safe. He couldn't tell a new plant from a head of lettuce.

I got this one about 5 years ago, mounted (Andy's Orchids) and it did nicely. It started to separate from its mount so I remounted just under two years ago. It is growing even better. I did not get a photo when it had multiple blooms, but here's one... I got one in a basket from a society raffle table about 3 years ago, it almost died (down to 1 leaf), I mounted it and it is coming back. So my conclusion, mounting is the way to go. It does not seem to get particularly intimate with the mount - some roots adhere but most, not particularly. No moss. So it does not seem to need or want constant moisture. I grow it outside, filtered sun (it tolerates cold). I have more recently gotten a few other Leptotes species, and again, am finding that mounting is the way to go.

My problem is not so much that I am out of room it is that I am having a time keeping up with the watering of them. Keeping my humidifiers filled and hauling water for them. My very dirty floors are a big sign that I am not getting things done around here.
I am not to sure a mount would do well with me. I have a hard time even keeping my Cattleya's watered enough. If I ever get one it will probably have to stay in a pot.

I went and found the thread Bud had started way back when and I gave it a bump about using his Leptotes bicolor to flavor, well what ever he used it for. Just in case some of you would like to read about it.
