Encyclia 'Green Comet'
Prosthechea cochleata or Encyclia cochleata. The national flower of Belize. Also called the octopus orchid and the black orchid. What ever you call it, I just like this plant. It has a musk like scent and this one has been blooming for over ten months now.

Wow! Do you mean it keeps growing and making new flowers, or the flowers are extremely long-lasting, or both?

It seems to put up new spikes form new growths every few months as the old spikes fade new ones appear. It bloom this way for over a year last time it bloomed. It seemed to take a break only when we divided it. It is a really great plant that is easy to grow. Thanks whiterabbit for finding its correct place

Very nice specimen, I've had cochleata on my list for a long time, but I always seem to get "distracted" every time I have an itch to buy it.
