Forgot about that one (Phragmipedium China Dragon). I got that one too, just on the name. Done my best to kill that seedling, but it has outsmarted me and is now approaching BS.

I just purchased a cat William Farrell. That was my uncles name although I doubt it was named after him. Picture of the bloom is pretty sooo had to have it. Guess that enough reasons...Jean

I've never bought an orchid for the name but I have a friend who's a mail carrier, here in Florida, and she bought Ctt. Barefoot Mailman because of the name. The Barefoot Mailman was an actual mail carrier back in the early days of Florida history.

Bought Paph 'Raisin Pie' and Beallara Purple Haze 'Jimmy Hendrix.' Who wouldn't want Jimi in the house?

Maybe not a purchase, but definitely will do a quick Google check on names. I always liked phrag. Sorcerers Apprentice. I will get one when i get a chance. Its one of the few I can pronounce correctly without any issue lol.

I bought a Beallara Purple Haze 'Jimi Hendrix' because I liked the blooms and the name. There's an onc with a really great name and vivid lip that I have always considered buying. It is Odontonia Pacific Paranoia 'Other Side of Cool'.

Yesterday my orchid club had our Christmas party. In the orchid trades I ended up with Lc Bowri-albida 'Pink Lady'. It's a primary hybrid of C. bowringiana x Laelia albida. So I now I have my Bowringiana that I wanted I didn't even see the tag until I got it home, funny.

I can't think of any off the top of my head, but it's something I'd do. My sister did get a Paph. Blood Clot because of the name, killed it, and has looked for another ever since she loved the name so (she likes the vinicolor maudiaes anyhow). And I would so like the get a Bulbo. Doggy Doo with that name, if I dared try a bulbo. I'm amused by stinky flowers anyhow.

Something about this thread reminds me of the time I bought the first Black Sabbath album because of the name and the pink and black album cover
