Many anceps are 'wanderers', stretching 2-3" per new growth. Some of the newer breeding (from Fred Clarke at SVO) is much tighter, with pseudobulbs almost touching.
Irrespective of growth habit, spikes are 3-4' tall.
Thanks so much. I hadn't thought of it being like that. I was just thinking tall. If I do get one some day I will make sure I get one that has them closer together. I do really like the blooms on them.

Tha spikes may be long but the actual stem and leaf are rather short like less than a foot tall. L. anceps might be a good plant for you. They can take cold temperatures.
