Default Cattleya trianae pelorica 'Lea'

This was a very expensive division I secured through Canaima. It is a flower that has 3 lip patterns, two of which are from the petals. The are four colors on this pattern; pale lavender background, darker lavender overlay on petals, bright yellow midrib, and magenta flamea on the tip, all mimicking the lip.

Flowers are small and reflexed, perhaps still stretching out. Measures around 7 cm natural spread and 10 cm stretched.

The plant was supposedly discovered from the Colombian jungles 10-15 years and sold to Japan at $20,000 per division!! It's more reasonable now. The selfings as well as siblings from this cattleya have all bloomed peloric with other pelorics. Good to know it passes color and trilip pattern for future splash and Peloric hybrids.

Wow! The history on this orchid is very interesting. It's flower is gorgeous, I can see why Japan paid so much for them.

Thank you BG and Tindol. The flowers are so unique with the tri-lip colours that all who has seen it were wowed that it was a jungle collected plant. I plan to use it to breed more splash progeny with my other splash Cattleya species like intermedia aquinii and eldorado flamea.
