Default Cattleya percivaliana premier bloom

This seedling is the result of a cross between 2 very nice semi-albas of the species. As you can see, it has turned out to be more of a coerulea. It's hanging a little heavy here in the pic because it has been monsoon weather here for the last few days. My orchids all grow outdoors.

Very nice! It must be great to have your orchids outdoors, even with the heavy weather!

Interesting that semi-albas produced a lavender blue flower. Goes to show that you really need to know the parentage 2-3 generations back to breed certain types. Do you know what the two semi-alba parents' clonal names were?

Yes, the parents are 'Sucre' and 'Sonia'. Though unexpected, the more I look at this color the more I like it. Actually, I'm liking it alot!

Looks like some of its siblings turned out albescent (from web search) so proving the latent lavender genes lurking in the background.

Sonia cultivar has always been known more as suave rather than semi alba.

Nice flower still!
