Can you take a close picture of a green sheath? Curious what one looks like. This is looking more like a bifoliate Catt to me than any kind of Schombo... or Laelia... anything.
That really looks more like a Guarianthe than anything else - Gur. (C.) bowringiana, skinneri, aurantiaca or a hybrid. Since there is no registered hybrid of any kind called George's Best it will be interesting to see how it blooms out.
I do know that laelia/schom. (WHATEVER THEY CALL IT NOWADAYS) splendida, grows upright and can be confused with those cattleya mentioned above. I would expect that this plant probably is a hybrid with Schom. splendida. Hopefully this can help in imagining what the blooms may look like.
So the flowers have bloomed on the brown sheaths. There were two thin ones, and a thick green ones. The blooms are about 2 1/2 inches across, three to 9 per spike.
