If you have some large cattleyas that haven't bloomed, I can think of two possibilities. First the plant may need stronger light. Some cattleyas require fairly bright light in order to bloom. The other thing is that they need long nights of complete darkness. If you have a porch light or some other light shining on the plant at night, that will keep some cattleyas from blooming, especially if they have C. labiata in their ancestry. Also, I've heard that giving large doses of fertilizer or high nitrogen fertilizer in the fall can keep some plants from blooming but I'm not sure if that's true. I don't really have a problem with orchids not blooming but I give a plant two or three years before I decide if I want to keep it or not. Good luck.
