Rhyncholaelia digbyana (did I spel it wright? I think it means the Digby's vestal virgin of the snout) is one of the Cattleya alliance that wants the most heat and light. Even more than other Catts, it needs to dry out between waterings. It is native, among other places, to the Yucatan Peninsula. There may be weeks there with no rain, though humidity is always high, and temperatures are evenly very warm.

I can't grow any orchids under full Arizona sun, but even my small seedling of R digbyana and tiny mericlone of RLC Ports of Paradise 'Gleneyrie's Green Giant' clearly like more light here than other Catts. My digbyana seedling arrived in a somewhat larger pot than I might have used, potted in cedar shavings, but the vendor said it doesn't like repotting, had just been put there, and that I should leave it in that pot for 2 years. So I have to be careful to let it dry out between waterings.

When they arrived in mid August each was completing a new growth. Now both are pushing another new growth.

That is so cool! Thank you very much i didn't know that it has a 'double dose' of digbyana.
