Cattleya Hawaiian Wedding Song 'Virgin'
This orchid plant is a cross between Cattleya Angel Bells and Cattleya Claesiana.
I inherited this with slight scale infestation that was not noticeable under the leaves when it arrived las winter by mail with a couple of dried twisting growths but healthy bulbs.
I repotted with fresh Cattleya mix in clay pot.
I treated the scale infestation with ½ teaspoon cinnamon extract, 15 drops dish soap and 2 cups of tepid water and used an old toothbrush to scrape the scale from the leaves.
After a week, I fed it K-lite fertilizer and seaweed mix weekly weakly.
The spring and summer outdoors must have agreed with it…. with Manhattan’s high humidity in the summers and bright light ….this orchid plant rewarded me with large 5 ½ inches diameter fragrant flowers with petals that shimmered in the sun.
The blooms have a pleasant scent of Irish Spring Soap, not overpowering at all.
This will be placed in the west facing window of my bathroom this winter.

Thank You for the visit and your kind encouraging words....the sunlight and sky on top of my apartment building is the best that I can do....I am not a photographer with a black backdrop and expert lighting

Very nice !
I got one about 3 Months ago too,not in the best of shape, it has only 3 growths and the newest one is trying to make blooms,I can see them sitting in the sheath, but it's not moving at all,so I think these ones will blast.
We will try again next year, but looking at your Plant ,the beautiful blooms...it's worth the wait

Thank You Monika!
Just be patient, it will not blast....it really starts from a tiny little growth inside the sheath then it will just surprise you with large flowers....carry on with your culture and care
