Default growing Cattleyas?

I bought a little unhealthy Cattleya a few months ago it is not doing well but is hanging in there.

I bought a big healthy one with a tag LC. Angel Love x Skinneri.

I can grow and re-bloom Onc, Milatonia, Tolumnia, and Phals. I grow Paphs none have re-bloomed yet but they take time.

Now I am am trying Cattleya. I read they need more light but besides that they seem to be easy. Any pointers for a first time Cattleya grower. I have had a Encyclia Cordigera for a few months and it has a new growth that is growing really well.

Here is my Angel Love.

Both cattleyas and encyclias like to dry quickly after watering. That means open, airy mix and small, tight pots. Don't worry if back bulbs are wrinkled but judge hydration by watching the newest pseudo-bulb which should be plump. If the newest p-bulb is wrinkled, water a little more often. The mix should never stay wet for long. They both prefer stronger light than your phalaenopsis but protect them from direct sun during midday. Encyclias often grow in full sun in Florida but it's a good idea to give them a little protection. Fertilize with a light dose of fertilizer once a week during the summer and less often during the winter.
