Lc. Miss Wonderful "Imperialis" sun damage?

One of the Laelia's in my collection is Lc. Miss Wonderful "Imperialis" which I bought from Cal Orchid down in Santa Barbara. From looking at the picture, can anyone tell if this is damage from too much sun? Or might it be something else?

I have it growing outside where it gets misted twice a day and watered regularly. It is in part sun part shade as it is growing on the patio under a lattice patio cover. Does it need more shade?

That looks like sun damage.

Looks like sunburn to me. Orchids need to be slowly acclimated to a higher light environment.

Yeah, I got this one earlier this year before it was too hot (April) and it went outside almost immediately. I didn't think it would be too hot or sunny at that point but I guess I was wrong. Fortunately, the plant doesn't seem too much worse for the wear for it should recover. Hopefully it will still flower this fall and put out new growth in the spring. But, that was a lesson learned.

Your sun is pretty hot from early in the season all the way through October or November. Not many orchids can take direct inland California sun.
