Brassavola Nodosa question...
Please excuse me if this question is unbearably stupid but I'm very new to these and have only had it for about 6 months. Is this the beginning of a sheath or just a normal part of the leaf? Do these even put out sheaths? Again, please forgive my ignorance

Looks like you are going to get some blooms!
I hope it will be a very fragrant one!

I've never been able to contribute to conversations about Brassavolsa since they all died and people still continued to say how "easy" they are. But I now have a David Sander with one big bloom on it so now I can concur with Leafmite and Pat! And Judy...I feel your joy!

I was WELL on my way to killing the poor thing until another member was kind enough to help me out and talked me into trying to mount it (a BIG thank you to Daerthen!!!), not only has it bounced back but now is apparently thriving
CONGRATS on your bloom!!!

Looks like a spike to me, my Little Stars is spiking right now also. You are in for quite a treat, the fragrance at night is amazing. Someone on OB posted that they bring their B nodosas into their bedroom at night so they can enjoy the fragrance. I've been doing that at my home now, and the fragrance sends me to sleep at night with a big smile on my face. Enjoy!

I have a nodosa grown in SH with about 15 pbs. They put out a lot of sheaths like this but never shows a spike.

I'm no expert but I've read that they want to dry out between waterings so SH may not be the way to go.
