Epidendrum nocturnum - possible spike? Male
Default Epidendrum nocturnum - possible spike?

I bought this plant back in June at an orchid show. I think I have a spike on it, but I'm not sure since I've never had this one before. Can anybody confirm, please?

Yes it is a sheath with some buds forming inside it.
Here is Mauro Rosim's photo of his orchid plant. Notice the sheath where the flower and buds came out from.

Great. How exciting. Are these flowers long lasting?
