Lc. Canhamiana 'Azure Skies' AM/AOS
This is in bloom at the moment. It is lightly scented with an almost grape scent. Kind of goes with the colour

Thanks! I was just telling a friend the same thing. I had another Azure Skies previously and it had no flare either. These should be clones since they are 'Azure Skies' but they are not always exactly it the same it seems. I have heard that when they are cloning, sometimes a chromosome or something can be lost or whatever, on the micro biological level so that clones are not always identical. And then I guess there are growing conditions to take into account also.

I got one (without the flares) in a package deal from Carmela about 2 years ago. I do not recall whether they show it on their web site.
On a different note, this random mutation would be VERY desirable to some growers. When plant is large enough to be divided, you have a small gold mine.
Also, this mutation qualifies for recognition. You have to retain 'Azure Skies', but you can add 'Flares' or some other suitable designation. Also, you should try go get it to AOS judging on a good blooming.
