Meiracyllium trinasutum in bloom

Dwarf epiphyte or lithophyte, Cattleya relative with a creeping rhizome from Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador.

I got this one in bud two years ago (from Gold Country Orchids) - it has bloomed reliably each June since.

I was told (and IOSPE concurs) that this species is cool to hot growing. I grow it indoors - I don't have AC, and keep heat down in winter, so mine gets temps down to low 50s overnight in winter, winter day temps are usually 60-65; in summer, overnight temps may be mid/upper 60s - low 70s, day temps mid 70s-low 80s, tho during extended periods of extreme heat it may get up to low 90s (ugh!).

I allow the sphag on the mount to dry completely before watering, tho since it has no pbulbs, I don't allow it to remain dry very long. In summer, it is watered daily, and that's been fine even during very hot, very dry days. In winter, it may go two-three days in-between waterings, tho, I do lightly spritz exposed roots daily. I have read that they will rot if kept too wet / not drying out fairly quickly.

It's growing in a west facing window that gets a few hours of direct mid-late afternoon sun, but, it's higher up in the window, so gets less sun than the plants on the sill there.

It's been an easy grower and bloomer for me.

This species was not known to me, either, until I saw this one. It's small, and had buds, so I asked about it. Small orchids that take a wide range of temps are appealing to me, and good fragrance makes them even better! So, it came home with me, and I've been happy with it
