Well, it did, especially as I lost about 70 other plants too, either to the rot or to the following mealy bugs.
It sort of killed my interest in orchids for about ten years.

Damn I miss mine... 28 bulbs, seven growths, and last flowering gave some 55 flowers.
These seem very hard to come by in Europe.

Here is my plant. I got it almost rootless with 3 small growths 5 years ago. It has bloomed on one growth each year the last 3 years. Each year the new pseudo bulb has gotten larger and with 8 buds this year, I think it is finally mature. It would be nice if it would branch out. There are two quite viable looking eyes on the latest blooming growth so maybe it will. It has tons of roots and seems fairly healthy now.

Very nice, sorry about the blades o death incident.
I also have a tale of woe in regards to this plant. I bought one in bloom over three years ago. It started to put out another spike right after I got it and I watched it grow for three weeks until I dropped the plant and snapped that spike right off. That was the last spike I ever saw on that plant while it was in my house.
I took it to my office last winter as its last stop before the landfill, and it very perversely has spiked, with three flowers already open and two more buds on the way. The fragrance is amazing, fills my office. Truth be told though, I like the colors in your flowers more than mine.

Sorry about the accident, the flowers you DO have are beautiful, though! The fragrance is indeed an added bonus...BettyE.
