Leptotes bicolor Male
Default Leptotes bicolor

My first bud on my Leptotes has opened!
Grown in a South windowsill, in full sun (when the sun wants to pop out...) or very bright filtered light. Potted in a mix of charcoal and sphag. Temperature is 75/60 day/night and humidity at least 60%, higher for when temps get higher!

*fertilized weakly weekly with MSU (pure water), kelpmax every other week, misted daily to keep sphag moist.

Very pretty and it looks like there are several buds! It's so tiny too. Congratulations!

Just lovely. Another one on my list. Spagh and charcoal huh. Do you use this mix on allot of your orchids? Not sure why I've never heard of just these two together.

It seems to work for me so... The logic behind it was to keep moisture, but short term. I work with a windowsill setup, and the leptotes hangs for the majority of the day in low-ish humidity (50~%). The sphag I put around the root system retains humidity for pretty much a full day and combined with the charcoal that retains very little water, allows me to water it thoroughly once a day without the fear of rot or media break down. It's like a potted mount! That and pure sphag wouldn't give me the stability I need, and bark the water schedule.
