Impressive form and color for a hybrid that is half Encyclia tampensis ancestry. That is probably close to the best this cross could produce. Is this a seed grown plant or a clone?

I hope that you can! It doesn't seem to be very common at all. Maybe in time ...

I got this from another Orchid Board member four years ago (he's not been active on the board for at least 3 years now) - it's a division from his plant. If I recall correctly what he told me about it, I think it's seed grown. I believe he told me that he knew the person who created this hybrid, and obtained it from that person. It seems that this particular one is the only one that got this bold coloring. Others are a moderate or pale yellow, with a moderate purple lip (still quite pretty, but lacking the "Wow!" factor this one has).

Well, if you ever decide to divide it and pass that division on to another OB member, I'd definitely like to throw my name in the hat

Unfortunately, it's still on the small size - it didn't help that the three oldest growths died last year after repotting . It'll be awhile before it gets divided ...
