Hi,
this is what the tag says on this one:
Epidendrum (floribundum x cordigerum) tampense.
I'm no expert at taxonomy, but it seems wrong. All the ones above are Encyclias, so why the final product is Epidendrum? Can anyone help me out on this one?
Anyways, I absolutely love the plant, it's hardy enough to take a lot of beating, reliable bloomer (this year it has 3 spikes, but unfortunately they're going to bloom sequentially). The only thing that throws me off a little is the "honeyed urine" scent.
Thanks for looking.

That's lovely and great growing. It looks similar to the Epy. Serena O'Neill I just bought recently. The Epidendrum part is a synonym for Encyclia. RHS at some point renamed things so one is their version and the other is the older Sander version. Encyclia is the RHS name although I still prefer to think of these type as Epi's. It makes things very confusing since they have re-classified and re-grouped many plants.

Seems like your tag should read: Encyclia (floribunda x cordigera) x tampensis.

I believe this would then be Encyclia Serena O'Neill x tampensis; though I don't know if this cross has been named yet.

Epi Serena O'Neill isn't floribuna x cordigera. It's Epy. Mabel Kanda (E.cordigera x Epi. densiflorum) x E. cordigera.
