The idea and material sounds the same. Mine were painted brown and have little stumps sticking out with nice "knots" on them and a base for freestanding or some were made to hang and looked more like the Kool logs only brown log colour. The one my Dakao is mounted on has 3 short stumps creating a bit of a tree crotch that made it easy to place the plant in. One stump is open to fill the whole thing with water. I still find it needs to be watered on the outside like a mounted plant but I think the water holding makes it not quite as demanding as a regular mounted plant. I had hoped for a little more length in between watering tho.
