Wow, looks so beautiful on this mount! May I ask where did you get this ceramic log?

So beautiful. I love this orchid and this mount.

It is an unglazed log made with sort of rough grooves (brushed with something I guess) and painted brown. It has several stumps and looks like a real log sort of. The log is hollow with one end open. Being unglazed, when water is put into the log it will slowly seep out providing some moisture to the roots. It is attached onto a painted and glazed base so it will sit on its own and hold water in the base. There is no fear of it tipping or anything. |
Update on blooms
2 Attachment(s)
Here is an update and photos on this plant today. The original bloom is still looking pretty nice and it has since opened 3 more with one more bud to go. The scent went from a lemony scent to a nicer one more like grape hyacinth I think??
The last bud is a bit behind and there could have been 2 more blooms but 2 buds blasted. Oh well, I am pretty pleased with this plant and the show it has given me :) |

Great looking orchid display. I just ordered some logs so I can mount one of my orchids on it.

Yes, Mine are white and you fill them with water. I seen them on here on the board but was not sure where. I think it was from someone doing the project for this spring. Then seen them again and seen someone ask were they got them from .. I placed the order and it just came in. So I will try them also.

So Silken, is your log like the kool log? You fill it to a certain level and then refill when empty? This fits in with your regular watering schedule? I assume that's how the cool logs work.
