Cattleya warscewiczii, a Preview
The King of the genus, Cattleya warscewiczii, about to flower for the first time. This is the largest form, Sandariana, that I got from a local legend in the orchid industry. It came bare root straight from Columbia about 1.5 yrs ago. Large, well grown specimens can produce many more buds and probably larger flowers than this first time bloomer, but I expect it will be pretty nice. I will post the flowers when they pop. I'm hoping not to be dissapointed.
Don't know why this pic is loading sideways.

Can't wait to see it. I have a few Cattleya species but not this one for some reason.

I grow all my orchids outside. Sadly, as this one began opening, a horrible rain storm began that lasted 2 days and was quite violent with wind and driving rain. Unfortunately, I didn't gar the big Catt in. The flowers were obviously quite tattered from the event. I'll post a pic anyway.

It was still beautiful and you can see the potential it had.
