looks like i'm about to lose my first orchid its in a terrible state no decent roots at all,is there anything to be done?

Sometimes you can lay the base of the plant (or loosely cover) in moist spag moss and maybe they will grow new roots if the rest of the plant is strong enough. Maybe someone else has some good advice for you.

I've had luck with catts, even with no root single pbulb pieces. I agree w/ wintergirl, I loosely (!) wrap with spag and keep it slightly damp but not wet.

Use some seaweed in the water, it will help stimulate roots.
