I think water spots from water sitting on the leaves and it got cold

no worries really. Actually a very nice looking plant in all respects

I was trying to point out the beautiful plant from the Chadwick's catalog he posted has the same spots on his plant that he was worried about.

Unusual Cattleya lueddemanniana - Page 4
Check out this thread on Orchidtalk forum. Page 4. They are questioning whether this plant is a pure lueddemanniana or a cross. They refer to looking for the spots on the leaves, and show an example to help verify that it is a lueddemanniana. Those purple spots on your leaves are very typical to this species.
