Constantia microscopica blooming!!!
Constantia microscopica - this is very special post for me, especially after my old post on this beauty when I found and purchased one (that was one of the posts that got me off this board for a while!) Finally, one of the rare orchids is blooming (SO YES, I DID NOT KILL IT, BUT MAKE IT ACTUALLY THRIVE AND BLOOM!). This mini miniature comes from Minas Gerais Brazil, and is considered as one of the smallest orchids, it is smallest in the genus and even the smallest within the Laeliinae! Very hard to find plant. I am truly proud and happy to own and bloom one! Grown outside year round in Florida, bright shade, misted nearly every day, good quality water, weak fertilizing.

Yes it is vellozia wood from Brazil, that's what they do grow in nature on.

Ordphien, your temps can't be worse than ours in Florida? and these can take pretty cold too, however I was surprised how well they take our hot summer, no skipping the beat!

Worse than Florida? Hmmm.. No. Lol.
The brand of cfl I previously used to light my lantern isn't available anymore.
And these new ones run warmer than the last ones. And hold heat longer.
So I don't think it's getting the cool down it wants.
I'd switch to LED. But then it would get too cold in winter.
All the more reason to hurry up on my other project.
The blooms on this one are just gorgeous.
