Time to divide mini catt? Female
Default Time to divide mini catt?

I have a noid mini catt. It did not bloom last year or show signs of it this year. I think (didnt keep a journal then) it was repotted last year at same time as a blc, which is about to form a spike. There have been no changes in humidity, water/feed schedule, light although i am pretty sure it spent mid-october thru mid-november outdoors with the blc. Has 10 psuedo bulbs in 3 1/2 " pot. Is it time to divide?

I wouldn't re-pot, especially if it hasn't bloomed yet. If it was only re-potted last year, it likely doesn't want to be disturbed so soon either. The leaves look a little dry. Maybe increasing its watering (unless it is suffering from root rot) and try moving to a brighter location. Some need fairly high light.

Yeah I would agree that it's not getting enough water.

It's also not in need of a repot, as far as I can tell.

It looks dry but also looks like it needs a feed, when was the last time it got fertilised? Also I wouldn't divide it as it looks a bit small, nor would I repot just yet, although maybe in a year that would be possible. Hope this helps

Minicatts can produce some spectacular specimens, with dozens of flowers.
** Avoid dividing as long as you have room for the plant.
** When you have to go above 4" pot size, look for azalea pots or bulb pans (you want a shallow pot).
