Hello OB!
Sooo... I ordered some more orchids from Andy's and my encyclia chacoensis came with snails. So I sprayed it with a solution of water and dr. Bronners soap, and hung it outside. Now I don't know if the solution was too strong but as u can see from the pics the orchid is starting to brown on the Pseudobulbs and the leaves have totally been messed up. The roots on the other hand still seem pretty healthy.
Is this a bad reaction to the spray or could it be a virus??

It looks like sunburn to me. I'm assuming it was still wet when you put it outside? Did it get much direct sun?

Yes I hung it outside in direct sunlight. But I thought it would be okay as I live in San francisco and the sun just isn't that strong in winter.
So can this orchod be saved? Should I stick with it?

Think of your plants as a pale skinned person. It can adapt to bright sun conditions (remember most Encyclias thrive in bright sun), but they require some time to acclimate to the increased rays.

And FYI- bush snails will not be affected by soap. Since your plant is mounted, it'll dry off fairly quickly and should provide a hostile environment to the little buggers. But keep it away from your potted plants for a few months! Otherwise, the snails can drop off and find a happy home in your pots.
