Bought this blooming BLC Mildred Hollingsworth "Sun Bulb" at lowes today
I couldn't believe when I found a large blooming Cattleya at Lowes. It has 4 blooms with two more about to open. There are also 3 more sheaths. I'll have to wait an see what they do. Of course I had to buy it

It's gorgeous! We would never find something like that in a box store in Canada.

Marvelous! Amazing that it came from a box store!! The only orchids available in any stores in this area are Phalaenopsis, and almost all of one shade or another of purple. If I want anything else, I'll have to buy it on line.
My BLC X etc. looks the same, but all psudobulbs and leaves grow prostrate rather than upright like yours. It has never bloomed, but I have high hopes now.

Great Find! The Lowes in our area only sell Phals.

I was very excited to find it. They had just gotten a new shipment in since the last few times I stopped buy to look at their orchids they had none. I had gotten a beautiful bright yellow Phal with a red center for Christmas but I discovered it had very bad crown rot so I returned it to Publix (supermarket). I have been looking for a replacement. I had never seen a blooming Cat at Lowes or HD before. They mostly have Phals and Dens blooming.
This Cattleya has a few pseudopods with two leaves. They are all together and I don't think they have ever bloomed. It also has a nice fragrance kind of like lilies of the valley. I can see buds forming in one of the sheaths so I hope to have some more flowers in the near future. I will probably divide it after it finishes blooming. There is no more room in the pot.

Lovely and I would have liked and bought that one too! My Lowes just got in 6 decent sized blooming catts- a BLC Booth Lee 'Venice' (already own this one, it's a super easy grower and bloomer, mine is also blooming now), a NOID that looks rather like the photos of Psycho Bride, and 4 Elizabeth Palmers (don't remember the clone). Too bad I don't buy NOIDs unless they're mindblowing and am not excited by the Elizabeth Palmer, they're nice healthy looking plants. (this is the Sanford FL Lowes if anyone in the area wants to check them out)
Maybe check out any Lowes you can get to, sounds like they're getting different things! Anybody else seen anything?
And emg- I have bought several of these over the years, even after they hit the clearance rack, and they've all been healthy good growers.
