Default c. amethystoglossa buds

I got no flowers so you get buds~!

1st time ever buds on this one. bought over 2 years ago as a pretty smallish seedling. I had read grow them mounted but I potted it up in my RJs Orchid Mix.. Hasnt ever been repotted per se I just keep bumping into bigger pots..there is a 2" clay pot down inside that 8" inch pot somewhere

Im like a noob all over every year but along with the buds it has put out 3 new growths this season!!!

happy happy happy...okey I think thats it for the buds today.!!! got to look somemore in the daylight tomorrow. Thanks for lookin. I know buds arent blooms but buds are good too!!!

ya' it has like a 24" wingspan take up a lot of room

buds are the most exciting part! everything starts from the moment you see them, and it's an amazing feeling. Good job!

Nice! I wouldn't expect buds on this species for a few months yet. Is this from H&R breeding or another proprietor?

RJ's mix is 1/3 'orchiata' bark 1/3 charcoal and 1/3 'dyna rok' sized appropriately for the plants. Plants with big roots get bigger chunks of mix. Fine rooted plants get finer graded mix. One thing overlooked when re potting an orchid is the mix size you use for them. Use the mix sized for the plants root sytems. You get big roots with fine mix it has too much surface area water contact. Big mix with small roots you get very little surface area water contact.

Dyna Rok is dolomite or diatomaceous earth

Dyna-Gro

orchiata is a brand name of bark.

Orchiata. New Zealand Orchid Bark as a Potting Mix for Orchids and Cymbidium Growing Media | Orchid Substrate from Besgrow Orchiata Specialists.

and yes this is an ' H&R Supreme' 4n from H R nurseries
I caught Roy on the last day of a show years ago and bought 2 species plants from him for 75 bucks and they were half priced!
A walkeriana 'perfect blush' and the 4n Supreme. What a bargain hey!!!

Wow, both are great plants! I known its off topic, but how is the walkeriana doing? That will be a great one.

Yes, amethystoglossa is big, but good ones are definitely worth the space they take up. I have one that is showing buds the same size already (a bit earlier than last year).
