I have given this plant too little light for a few years now and the result has been nice growth and dark (beautiful and shiny) green leaves, but no flowers.

The cattleyas next to it has been flowering every year, so I've been thinking Mr Roebling is a reluctant flowerer.

Then I moved it to a spot in the greenhouse where it gets more light, and where I've sunburned catt leaves before...and voila!

What a nice Christmas gift!

Beautiful, large flowers with a bluish lilac compared to the more common purple tint. Pleasant, mild scent.

As I understand, this is an old, classic hybrid that has been around for a while.

Very pretty. I have the Beechview and it looks almost same as your Blue Indigo.

Great growning Silje, I also have this primary hybrid but is very shy to flower for me, even though all my purpurata's flower regularly.
Where is the middle of nowhere? Are you on a farm / ranch?

Oh, so it's not just me then? This hybrid is a bit of a reluctant flowerer for others as well?

Yes, I live on a farm in central Namibia.
