Repotting Lc. Mari's Song difficulties

Both Mari's are on death's doorstep.
The divisions from the smallest plant might have the best chance of survival.
Both plants were divided by rotting in the rhizome and roots. I've updated my threads about the Mari's; I'm sorry for repeating the info.

I repotted the Biggest Mari's Song tonight but think something might have gone wrong

I was clipping dead roots, and it seems like the rhizome was already split before I unpotted it.
it was rotted;I was new and didn't know for sure.

When I first got it I noticed that the two newest growths looked black around the center, as well as the roots peeking out . I didn't think much of it, and I couldn't tell how far down it went.
Well while I was repotting I noticed that most of the new growth's roots were black and hollow or mushy.
NOTE: I should have cut off the smallest growth to check how far the black went through the rhizome
I did not try pulling them further apart since it looks like further down that they are still connected by a single small root. The tangled roots at the middle and bottom kept them together basically. I realized that healthy Cattleyas don't pull apart this easily and should have expected rotting as a culprit. Also, if the rhizome isn't connecting the pseudobulbs, the plant has been divided.
It seems to be separated with 3 back bulbs, and the newest group looks to be 4. Now it's 3 and 3.

I can't really tell if they're actually still connected or not, and it looked like I might lose the smallest growth anyways. I think the smallest might be lost to rot. A couple roots were rotted all the way up.. even to the newest growth. I SHOULD HAVE listened to my instincts and cut it off.

Should I be concerned for the overall plant?
Is there something I should do, or is it just a waiting game to see what damage has been done?
the plant could be in better health if I wasn't so gentle with the rotted areas.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, from your photos the plant looks to be healthy, so maybe everything will be all right. I think time will tell...

Thank you! this was a first for me. (First repotting) so I'll treat it as a learning experience.

I'm hoping that the dark areas are just stains from the old media. The flash helps bring out that green color, but without the flash, it looks black.
I've watched some repotting videos and now I'm almost certain that the rhizome has been split, or was already two different plants; the pseudobulbs faced different directions.
I guess I'll have to see what happens with it though.

... Now I'm afraid to repot the other Catts

It appears to be a new growth, or an "eye"? I just saw it this morning
This is a good sign hopefully..
Should I leave the orchid potted how it is?
It's less than 1/2 of an inch away from the side of the pot.
If I need to move anything around, and when the best time would be to, please let me know!

12/26.
Both Mari's Songs divided by rotted rhizomes.
I lost quite a bit of roots on both (and probably all on the biggest original plant.)

I have them sitting on the LECA so I can monitor them.
I hope I got the rotted areas in time.

Whatever infected them, it smells... Just like foul decaying plants. Probably typical.

I LEARNED A LOT FROM THIS!
1. Younger plants/seedlings have a harder time surviving cold shipping.
2. Always unpot if something is suspicious.
3. Show infected areas no mercy. They must go, at least what you can see.
4. Physan is good to have around before something like this happens.
5. Knowing when to use physan (well in this situation)
6. Infections can spread REALLY fast.
7. Buy products that may be needed before they happen. If you wait to get it when symptoms are present, you could be too late. Example: spray bottles, cotton balls, systemic fugacide, certain fertilizers, pots.
8... Ok ok.. I'll stop listing lol.

*** I've talked to the seller and we're all good. It's most likely that the plants couldn't resist infection during shipping. The Lc. Final Blue looks okay, but it's not as young.
I hope I don't have to unpot him too.
