Question 3 new orchids from Kawamoto!!!

I ended up making a "tabletop greenhouse" and my phalaenopsis is looking pretty lonely....
***what forum do I post pictures of the "greenhouse" I created?"***

So I did a google search for an eBay orchid seller, and found Kawamotoorchids . What put them over the top was the packaging video. They have stellar packaging IMO, so I bid on 2 auctions.

1 will be:
Lc. Final Blue 'Royal Purple' BM/JOGA
Blooming size (should bloom within one year)

2 of them will be:
Lc. Mari's Song 'CTM-217'
Seedling size

I'm super excited I'll just add a shelf to my small greenhouse.
Now I'll just have to so some research on these.
Out of curiosity, how well do these do in LECA clay?

Here's the auction links

Nice! They are great vendors and I have bought from them many times.

I like them all, but the second plant must be very pretty in person!!!

I have moved some of my cattleyas in LECA, but not s/h culture.
As long as you water them good, they grow just fine.

I have had them ship to me several times and I have purchase at the shows they attend in South Florida for years, never had a problem.

Thanks!
I've seen some other potentially good sellers/vendors on eBay but I chose Kawamoto because their shipping and orchids meet my needs/expectations *well most likely will.*
What I mean by that is: they provide a heat pack if needed, and from what I can see, they sell healthy plants that aren't too hard for beginners.
In Indiana, night temps this week are as low as 25°F and day temps can be from 30°F-50°F.
So I believe the heat pack is a must.

I'll post pictures up once I receive them to make sure everything is okay!

I recently bought from kawamoto, shipped to Northern Indiana and the orchid was fine. The heat pack had lost it's warmth but they wrapped everything so well the cattleya was prefect.

Hmm, I suppose even if the heat pack wasn't warm towards the end of the shipment that it was still beneficial.

I'm not too worried about the shipping then, central IN and northern Indiana are almost like 2 different states.
Maybe I'm exaggerating but I hate cold, and I know N. IN gets a lot more snow.
Not to mention that I've never had an issue with FedEx.

Have you been to hilltop orchid nursery? Or the new vision orchids? I know that if you're REALLY north, that both would be a stretch but there's not that many nurseries around here. Hilltop's is around half way between indianapolis and Terre Haute.

I have not, but I might do some traveling in milder weather and visit some nurseries. Do you like Hilltop? Did you buy anything from them?

I have not been there yet, but may go soon. *maybe within a month* since the holidays are crazy.
I think they're about an hour or less away from me, which I've heard isn't too bad. They have a website as well

Also as I was informed by a member on here in the weird looks when buying orchid thread, I was suggested to search for an orchid group.
I need to go thank them when I find it but it turns out there's monthly meetings pretty close to me -> Home

ORCHIDS ARRIVED!

Will post pictures very soon!
I read a thread about shipped orchids being fine if they arrive cold. I was wondering, would it do more harm to water them with warm water to warm up the media?
it has snowed a very little amount and is currently 25ºF.
