Brassavola grandiflora 12.11.14

I was curiously immune to the charms of Brassavola for a long time. I forgot to get my booster shot. Lately I'm drawn to every one of them.

In a short period of time, nodosa, subulifolia, cordata (aka subulifolia), and grandiflora have taken places on my shelves.

Pictured is grandiflora, one I want to take all the glory for, but have to admit she was in bloom when I got her. The fragrance is as captivating as the flowers.

ya I dont know how you kept yourself from them you need a David Sander now for some hard work blooming brassavolii...

I think If I get to the point where I want to specialize, brassavola and its hybrids are numerous an they are all in my eyes just wonderful easy to grow and care for great plants. They would be the ones to fill my greenhouse. Hardy plants too, they been outside iin my toy greenhouse for almost 2 years and they grow like weeds with a scorching 105 summer and down to 40 in the winter...They actually bloom for me to late in the year before the cold gets me usually. Cold got me early this year. Damn cold bud burglars stoled my buds.

Can you imagine a greenhouse full of these plants?
One might just pass out intoxicated! lol

I became a fan after winning Brassavola Little Stars at an auction two years ago. It is in its second bloom. I bought nodosa this past January and it is also in bloom again.
I also have two other nodosa hybrids, all whitish flowers and beautiful! oh, wait, I do have a green hybrid as well. They all smell oh, so nice!!!

I want yellow hybrid and a red one like Ruby Star, but red one is hard to find!

By the way, is grandiflora a separate species now?
I thought it was a variation of nodosa with a large flower and flat leaves??
Can anyone enlighten on this, please?
My nodosa has very flat leaves, but I don't know how the flower size compare since I only have one variety.
It is at least the double the size of my Little Stars flowers.

Say, RJ do you mean David Sander is hard to get to bloom? I have one but it has not bloomed yet.
