I agree with Tucker's comment: most of the yellow-flowered cattleya hybrids I've seen firsthand are rather lightly scented--although the two you chose are quite lovely. Blc. Malworth is another old cross from Jones & Scully that has outstanding flowers (and maybe some fragrance too).

If you're really interested in highly fragrant cattleyas, in my opinion you can't really go wrong with the old white-flowered hybrids (Bob Betts, Gertrude Hausermann, Jose Marti, etc.). The white blooms may not be as visually appealing to you, but all of the ones with Edithiae and Bow Bells in their background are incredibly fragrant, even to the point of being a little overpowering when you're very close to them. Luckily many of these old hybrids are still around--which, in a fickle orchid-growing world, attests to their enduring popularity. Check out Hausermann's website; Chaddwick's carries them too, but they're a little more expensive in my opinion.

Good luck with your search.

I've been reading good things about Goldenzelle too.

I was thinking that a white with some yellow in the lip might be able to fill in for a yellow. Maybe I can find room for both. The greenhouse, back in the 70's had an Empress Bells, so I have done some research into Bow Bells' children

Blc Everything Nice ‘Showtime’
Fragrant, 4” chartreuse flowers have ruffled white lips and mature plants have 6-8 blooms per spike. If given good light, ‘Showtime’ will bloom in spring and fall with the blossoms lasting 3-4 weeks. Since it’s easy to grow and flower, Everything Nice ‘Showtime’ is ideal for even beginning orchid growers.

it might not be floofy enough for you but the fragrance is outstanding.. mine only had 4 flowers but rapidly becoming one of my faves.

seems I also fail to recognize OLD
