Blue Boy Gainesborough (C. Ariel x Elegans)
I went to my first orchid show at the American Orchid Society Fall Show today. All of the catelayas that I own are too young to bloom yet. I'm getting tired of waiting so I decided to by one in bloom at the show. Here it is and it's a beauty.

Ooooooh...aaaaaaah...I'm so jealous! Wish I coulda gone! Halloween here on our street is like a national holiday - we had over 350 trick-or-treaters! Had to use the rest of the weekend to recuperate.

Did you spell Cattleya how you would normally pronounce it? I feel myself pronouncing it Catt-lee-ya. Not sure if it is a regional thing or not because I've heard Canadians pronounce it cat-lay-uh.
Beautiful plant however you say it lol

I repotted it as soon as the blooms faded. It was very root bound in a 4 inch pot and could not stand up on it's own. I put it into a 8 inch clay pot. The roots looked very healthy and I only needed to trim a couple. I gently loosened up the roots that were encircled around the top of the pot. They really had no where to grow they were so tight.
Now two weeks later I have two leads coming up. Very excited!!
