Sophronitis cernua
I am disinclined to use the genus name Cattleya for this group of plants. Sophronitis cernua inhabits a wide area in southeast Brazil, where it normally grows on big trees at lower elevations. Also a yellow form exists, which I've never seen with my eyes, only photos.
This plant is mounted on Clematis for 15-20 years. It gets lots of light, but lacks a bit of water. It tolerates warmer temps and dryness better than other Sophronitis. Flowers open from top to bottom.

How very cute, it's like a 'little' jewelbox! I haven't got any Sophronitis plants but yours makes me doubt if i should get one!

Better looking color than most on this one! I got a cutting from a member here a while back and its been slow to get established. Did yours take a while to get acclimated to its mount?

I love this one but am having a hard time getting them going/blooming. I have one mounted on Cork which Ii though was good sized and then realized that it was really two piece (it was broken by the clip that help it to the mount). I also have one potted in Orchiata bark in a net pot inside a clay pot that has also been slow and then when I repotted it, I discovered it also was two pieces.
So far, both of mine are growing, but all cultural advice gratefully accepted! I want to grow mine to be a gorgeous as the one above
